Six Laguna Woods residents add to diversity of artistic media at festival

Art-A-Fair Festival 2024

With summer in full swing, the Laguna Beach art festivals are a popular draw among Southern Californians and tourists. The Art-A-Fair festival, running through September 1, is renowned for its diverse array of artists and art forms. This year's festival features 113 artists from around the world, including South Africa, and is proudly dubbed “a Festival without Borders.”

What to Expect

Art-A-Fair offers a variety of artistic expressions beyond traditional fine art, including crafts, fabric art, and more. Visitors can explore:

  • Glass Art (stained, kiln-fired, and mosaics)
  • Jewelry
  • Unique creations like gourds by Grace Swanson (Booth A14)

This year, six artists from Laguna Woods Village are featured:

  • Carrie Eckert - Ceramicist known for her mixed media vessels and graceful clay ballet dancers (Booth C13).
  • Carrie Olsen - Fabric artist creating abstract art with meticulously layered and stitched fabric pieces (Booth D9).
  • Agnes Copeland - Collage artist and mixed media teacher, creating colorful cutouts inspired by her travels (Booth B3).
  • Audrey Grider - Painter known for her vibrant horse portraits and dancers (Booth D7).
  • Eva Altman - Abstract painter with geometric designs and Bauhaus influences (Booth A29).
  • Viviana Stone - Painter inspired by Picasso, creating colorful surreal forms (Booth A29).

Special Highlights

Young artist Brian Nguyen showcases his wood and multimedia sea creatures (Booth B10). Don't miss David Greenhalgh's three-dimensional glass mosaic sculptures, including "Ocean Exodus" (Booth D17).
